Having lost their first game of the season last week, Sydney FC may have opened a window for Melbourne Victory to come after them in the battle for the A-League's Premier's Plate.
After building an almighty lead on top of the A-League table, the difference between first and second could be just five points after this week should Sydney slip up again and Victory win their match.
Melbourne City have proved to be Sydney FC's bogey team over their last five encounters, having not lost to them since 2014. They head into Friday's much-anticipated clash with their confidence high and their momentum up after a 5-1 win over Wellington last week as well as their FFA Cup win over the Sky Blues in November.
