There’s a new outright favourite in the Arkle betting following another success for Alan King’s Edwardstone en route to the Cheltenham Festival. After the news that original ante post favourite Ferny Hollow would miss the Grade 1 race through injury, bookies weren’t sure which horse should head the market. Some 22 horses remain in the 2m novice chase on the opening day of the meeting.
As many horse racing fans know, it has taken time for things to click for Edwardstone in steeplechases. An eye-catching sixth in the Supreme Novices Hurdle two seasons ago and fine fifth in the County Hurdle last year, the eight-year-old has notched a four-timer over fences this campaign.
