GREENVILLE, N.C. -- SMU wanted to run the ball last week against Memphis. One problem: Leading rusher Braeden West lasted only four carries.
West's streak of 100-yard games ended at three and the Mustangs' two-game winning streak came to a crushing halt, 51-7.
Needing two victories in their final three games to become bowl eligible, SMU can only hope West has recovered from the nagging injuries that finally forced his exit.
"We anticipate Braeden will be back this week," Morris said Tuesday. "It was my decision to hold him last week, especially after about six or seven plays, I thought, if he's not 100 percent, we want to make sure to get him healthy.
