Why Shake Milton's absence has been too much for SMU to overcome

UNIVERSITY PARK -- The potent brew of injuries and sanctions that have hampered SMU the past three weeks has affected every area of SMU's game. Defense, rebounding and pace have all been scathed.

But the one sphere that's been damaged the most is SMU's offense.

SMU is coming off of its lowest-scoring game in six years, a 52-37 loss to Central Florida in which the Mustangs made 25.6 percent of its field-goal attempts. It caps off a five-game streak in which the Mustangs scored on average 56 points.

That's 17.5 points less than SMU's mean through the first 22 games of the season.
