UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU basketball coach Tim Jankovich hopes his team's new-found affection for the three-point shot will have subsided by Wednesday's game against Western Carolina at Moody Coliseum.
In splitting their first two games, the Mustangs have launched 66 three-pointers. A year ago, SMU averaged 22.5 three-point shots per game.
The shot has worked against SMU. It has a .318 percentage on threes.
"It's not by design,'' Jankovich said after a loss to Southern Mississippi on Sunday. "We're not trying to shoot all threes.''
Western Carolina has lost its first two games and eight of nine dating back to last season.
