UNIVERSITY PARK -- When SMU celebrates senior day on Wednesday night against Houston, both guard Ben Emelogu and forward Akoy Agau will be honored. While it will certainly be Emelogu's last collegiate game, Agau could still return to SMU for the 2018-19 season.
Agau has applied for an extra year of eligibility due to an injury-shortened 2014-15 season, in which he played three games while at Louisville. While the Big East cleared Agau to receive an extra year of eligibility over the summer, the NCAA has yet to decide.
SMU head coach Tim Jankovich said Tuesday there currently is no timetable for when a decision on Agau's fate will be made, hence his decision to participate in senior day festivities in case this truly is his swan song.
