SMU's special teams gets tricky with two fake plays

UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU, possibly giving future opponents something extra to consider, ran two successful trick plays from a kicking formation during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Houston Baptist.

Each involved punter Jamie Sackville and freshman tight end Ben Redding.

The first play came with Sackville set to punt from the SMU 42. When HBU's defenders peeled back, Sackville flipped a shovel pass to Redding for a 25-yard gain. The play set up a touchdown on a 25-yard run by Braeden West.

On the final play of the first half, Sackville was set to hold on a 21-yard field goal try by Kevin Robledo.
