Here's a look at SMU's current outlook at running back heading toward the 2019 season:
Key returnees (2019 status): Ke'Mon Freeman (senior), Xavier Jones (senior), Merek Pierce (senior), TaMerik Williams (redshirt freshman)
Key losses: Braeden West (graduation)
Newcomers: T.J. McDaniel (Southlake Carroll HS), Ulysses Bentley (Houston C.E. King HS)
Biggest unanswered question: From a personnel standpoint, the Mustangs look OK at running back entering 2019. The loss of leading rusher Braeden West can't be understated enough. West was a workhorse that rushed for over 1,000 yards as a sophomore and was always dependable, especially when other members of this unit couldn't go due to various injuries.
