SMU pledge Charlie Brewer and Lake Travis dominated The Woodlands, shut Houston out of state championships in 2016

ARLINGTON -- The final UIL state championship game of the weekend offered SMU fans a glimpse of the future.

Charlie Brewer, who has committed to play for the Mustangs and former Lake Travis coach Chad Morris, passed for 361 yards and four touchdowns, leading Lake Travis to a 41-13 victory over The Woodlands for the Class 6A Division I championship on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium.

The Texas player of the year joined his older brother, Michael Brewer, and his grandfather, Charlie Brewer, as state high school champions. Michael Brewer won two titles at Lake Travis, and Charlie Brewer's granddad led Lubbock High School to the 1951 title.
