With just two weeks left in the regular season, SMU is trending up.
The Mustangs' 62-50 win over the UConn Huskies last Saturday gave SMU control of its own destiny -- in more ways than one. The Mustangs not only find themselves sitting a win away from bowl eligibility with two games remaining, but also tied for first place in the American Athletic Conference western division.
SMU is tied with Houston and Tulane with 4-2 conference records and the Mustangs own the tiebreaker over both. The Cougars and Green Wave play Thursday night, guaranteeing a loss for either school.
