UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU hung with Big 12 opponents Baylor and TCU, limiting those prolific offenses to six first-half points each.
But landing the signature upset has been elusive. Instead of putting a real scare into those teams, the Mustangs were overpowered in the second half.
So as they prepare for the start of American Athletic Conference play Saturday at Temple (2-2), SMU (2-2) hopes to apply lessons learned from the Big 12.
