SMU might have hit 'scale-busting jackpot' with its 2019 recruiting class

UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU coach Sonny Dykes wanted a recruiting class that included the elements to build a bigger and stronger offensive line.

The Mustangs may have hit the scale-busting jackpot.

Their recruiting class included four offensive linemen. Their average dimensions are 6-4, 320-pounds.

The group included one true leviathan: tackle Danielson Ike of Kansas City, Mo., Rockhurst. SMU listed him at 6-5, 349 pounds. Dykes put Ike at 6-7 352 pounds. His addition changed the look of the signing class for the better for the Mustangs.

"It's like the new, shiny toy because it happened at the end," Dykes said.
