SMU has as many if not more players on NFL rosters to start the 2017 season as half of the schools in the Big 12.
College football reporter Brett McMurphy calculated the number of players from each school in the country that are in the NFL to star the 2017 season. He found that 13 former SMU players are in the league in some form or another this season.
The 12 SMU players on official NFL rosters are:
Chiefs corner Kenneth Acker, Saints safety Chris Banjo, Jets tackle Kelvin Beachum, Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley, Buccaneers center Ben Gottschalk, Colts defensive end Margus Hunt, Saints offensive lineman Josh LeRibeus, Saints corner Sterling Moore, Saints punter Thomas Morstead, Washington defensive back Shakiel Randolph, 49ers receiver Aldrick Robinson and Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders.
