Now that SMU's football camp has closed, let's evaluate what we learned this spring and talk some reasons for optimism entering the 2019 season.
Quarterback clarity
There's certainly a clearer outlook at QB post spring camp than there was after three-year starter Ben Hicks transferred to Arkansas in January. Texas transfer Shane Buechele won't become heavily involved until the fall, but still figures to be SMU's starter in 2019. Depth concerns also subsided this spring, as projected backup William Brown made strides in the areas of passing accuracy and physical bulk.
The receiving corps looks solid
