SMU coach Sonny Dykes expressed irritation on Monday at an "obvious non-football move'' by Memphis linebacker Jackson Dillon that damaged the left knee of Mustangs tight end Ryan Becker during Friday's game.
After tackling Becker and causing a fumble at the Memphis seven, Dillon appeared to twist the tight end's left knee. Becker did not return to the game and has what Dykes called "a fairly significant injury.''
Dykes said he has not been contacted about the play by the American Athletic Conference or Memphis officials.
"There's certainly not a place for that in college football,'' Dykes said of Dillon's actions.
