The Mustangs bested a number of Power Five programs and notched a verbal commitment from three-star Pittsburg athlete Keontae Burns on Saturday night.
Burns announced his decision via Twitter.
Burns picked SMU over offers from Arkansas, Arizona, Baylor, Iowa State, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas Tech and several others.
At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Burns is ranked as the No. 38 athlete in the country and No. 76 overall prospect in the state, per 247Sports Composite.
