Rematch on: SMU gets shot to avenge loss to USC

TULSA, Okla. -- When the NCAA tournament bracket was announced, SMU's men's basketball team realized the possibility of a rematch against one of the few teams that's beaten them this season.

After Southern California beat Providence to become the East region's No. 11 seed, the rematch was on. Sixth-seeded SMU (30-4) will have a chance to exact revenge on the Trojans (25-9) around 2:10 p.m. Friday at Tulsa's BOK Center.

SMU senior guard Sterling Brown said during the tournament's selection show Sunday that he wanted to play USC. During Thursday's news conference, Brown said the rematch gives the Mustangs extra motivation to win their first NCAA tournament game since 1988.
