After missing the postseason with a 5-7 record in 2018, here are a few reasons why SMU could improve in 2019:
The new brood
SMU's 2019 signing class took some significant hits in the final weeks leading up to the early signing period. The Mustangs saw their top two prospects decommit and sign elsewhere, and some prestige was lost. SMU can no longer claim that it signed the top class of a non-power 5 school.
That being said, the class is still up there -- one of the best SMU has signed in recent memory.
