UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU will focus on its inconsistent kickoff coverage during practices leading up to Saturday's game at No. 12 Central Florida.
The group had a "really bad'' performance during a 63-27 win against Houston Baptist on Saturday, coach Sonny Dykes said on Monday. LaDarius Dickens, of Rowlett, had consecutive returns of 64 and 95 yards. Kevin Robledo also put two kickoffs out of bounds, allowing HBU to start from its 35-yard line.
Dickens' 95-yard return went for the second touchdown of the season against SMU's kickoff-coverage group. Arkansas and Georgia Tech are the only other FCS-level teams that have allowed two kickoff returns for touchdowns.
