SMU's appeal to lift recruiting restrictions has been denied, the NCAA announced on Thursday.
The Mustangs cannot host unofficial visitors for 13 weeks in the summer, must reduce scholarships by nine from 2016-2019 and will be forced to reduce official visits by two in 2016-17 and 2017-18, respectively.
SMU will also have to vacate wins.
According to a release from the NCAA, the Infractions Appeals Committee found that the Committee on Infractions panel appropriately separated its analyses for the university and involved individuals in determining violation level and penalty structure.
The Infractions Appeals Committee also found the scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions and men's golf postseason ban imposed by the Committee on Infractions were not an abuse of discretion.
