Mustangs lose to Tigers in last game

The SMU Mustangs fell to the Memphis Tigers 63-0 in the final game of the regular season.

Memphis scored on its first possession on a 43-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Paxton Lynch to Phil Mayhue. After the two teams traded punts, the Tigers scored again, this time on a touchdown pass from Lynch to Dorceus.

On SMU’s next possession, Memphis blocked Jackson Koonce’s punt attempt, giving the Tigers the ball on the SMU 21-yard line. Lynch found Frank Wims on the next play for another touchdown.

Two plays later, SMU running back Xavier Jones fumbled. The ball was picked up by Leonard Pegues and returned for a touchdown, making it 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.
