UNIVERSITY PARK -- Not even a career night from Jahmal McMurray could save SMU's season from its continued spiral on Wednesday.
McMurray put up a career-high 33 points but his half-court heave as time expired bounced off the rim as the Mustangs fell 70-67 to Memphis.
"Murphy's Law is in full effect around here," head coach Tim Jankovich said dryly in his post-game press conference.
After being held scoreless for the first 39 minutes with tape around his injured right wrist, senior Ben Emelogu hit a 3-pointer with 42.3 seconds left to get SMU back within two.
