SMU's Gray Townsend tied for third in the American Athletic Conference tournament after shooting a 3-under 68 in the final round at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla. The junior matched par with a 213 total.
Townsend was one of four Mustangs to finish in the top 25. Senior Alex Higgs tied for 20th, and senior Andrew Buchanan and freshman Daniel Connolly finished tied for 23rd.
SMU finished sixth with an 884, 27 shots behind champion South Florida. Cincinnati and Houston tied for second.
