A couple of years ago, Justin Northwest boys basketball coach Mike Hatch had an offer to join SMU's staff, where his old friend Tim Jankovich was taking over at head coach.
Hatch previously coached in college, including at Oklahoma State. He loved coaching at that level. But when the job came up, he turned it down.
"We had really good teams coming," Hatch said. "You coach all your life hoping you can get a team that's good enough to get down to the state tournament. We had a team a couple years ago, that I just felt like we had to give it that opportunity to take that chance.
