ANN ARBOR -- SMU was hanging around with No. 19 Michigan through nearly the entire first half.
It was a game that had a similar, albeit less sloppy, feel to the TCU game last week. The Mustangs were facing a superior opponent with premier talent, but they were holding their own nonetheless.
But at the end of the first half, quarterback Ben Hicks through a pick six to the Wolverines' Josh Metellus, and the tides turned for good, as SMU lost, 45-20.
-- Michigan's second touchdown, which came with 2:42 left in the second quarter, was set up by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on SMU coach Sonny Dykes, after he was arguing with the officials over the spot from the previous play.
