How SMU's four freshmen progressed in 2017-18, and what they want to work on before sophomore seasons

ORLANDO -- The end to SMU's 2017-18 season was more or less a nightmare scenario for the Mustangs. While they began the season 12-3 and firmly in the NCAA tournament picture, inconsistency and injuries to the likes of Shake Milton and Jarrey Foster resulted in a 5-13 end to the season.

The medical woes weighed heavily on SMU. But they also provided an ironic silver lining for the Mustangs: Their young players got a chance to play.

"It was great from that standpoint," head coach Tim Jankovich said, even if his emotion following SMU's season-ending loss to Cincinnati didn't match the sentiment.
