While the rest of SMU’s football team went through the motions of spring practice, the Mustangs’ potential starting quarterback watched from a distance.
On this day in early March, Shane Buechele was just an observer. Wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt, he blended in among the spectators who watched the Mustangs prepare for the upcoming season.
By summer, Buechele will have a much more active role. Once the Arlington Lamar alumnus graduates from Texas and enrolls at SMU this summer, he’ll officially begin working on the task of becoming the Mustangs’ next starting quarterback.
When he arrives on campus this summer, Buechele brings a wealth of experience that made him a valuable addition this offseason when SMU needed a graduate transfer.
