This first game will be different for SMU coach Sonny Dykes -- in that it's actually a second game. But everything else? He knows what to expect.
Dykes, hired in December to replace the departed Chad Morris, coached the Mustangs in a 41-point Frisco Bowl loss to officially begin his tenure at SMU, but will usher in his first campaign Saturday night at North Texas. Since then, Dykes has hired a full staff, signed a recruiting class, landed Power Five transfers, and conducted both spring and fall practice.
The transition work is done. It's just time for football.
