Breaking down SMU’s 2018 recruiting class: The best player, dark horse and our class grade

Here's a quick breakdown of SMU's 2018 signing class:

Head of the class: The last-minute addition of Treveon Johnson tops the class. The athlete can play receiver or corner and is the highest-rated SMU commit since 2007 according to 247Sports.com. Picking SMU over Arkansas and Texas Tech, among others, makes it an extra-sweet addition for SMU.

Diamond in the rough: Pine Tree outside linebacker Gary Wiley, Jr., was not a highly recruited prospect, flipping from Missouri State to SMU this week. But he was the Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year this past football season and has the versatility to play defensive end, too.
