UNIVERSITY PARK -- Weather ensured that the Iron Skillet would remain in TCU's hands a bit longer, regardless of Friday night's outcome against SMU.
Lightning delayed the start of the Battle for the Iron Skillet by about two hours, pushing kickoff back to 8:59 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
Lightning strikes dotted the sky in the hours leading up to the rivalry game, but each one within eight miles of Ford Stadium delayed kickoff by an hour (teams could not take the field for 30 minutes following a strike, and needed 30 minutes to warm up once they did).
