It really didn’t matter where Houston’s Corey Davis Jr. decided to shoot from on Wednesday night against SMU.
The longer the second half dragged on, the less likely it seemed he was going to miss. By the time he cooled off, the senior guard had done more than enough to seal a 69-58 road victory for the No. 21 Cougars as Houston coach Kelvin Sampson won his 600th career game.
The Mustangs weren’t able to slow down Davis or Houston’s offense for most of the second half. Davis scored 15 of his team-high 20 points after halftime as the Cougars offense rolled.
