As we enter the final week of the regular season of college basketball (seriously, how?), the American Conference standings have started to crystallize a week before the conference tournament in Orlando.
Given SMU's only path to the NCAA tournament is a frenetic run through Orlando, seeding will be imperative for the Mustangs. SMU can currently finish as high as high as and as low as tenth in the conference standings.
Technically, SMU could finish in a three-way tie with Temple and UCF for sixth-place should SMU win its two games against Houston and USF while Temple and UCF lose both of their respective games.
