Here are five things SMU fans need to know about the Mustangs' Week 5 opponent, Houston Baptist:

SMU has never faced Houston Baptist in its five seasons with a Division I football program, but does have another matchup already on the books. Mustangs fans will be waiting awhile, however. SMU and HBU will face each other again on August 31, 2024 -- which assumably will serve as both team's season opener.
Some trivia: The Mustangs are 45-42-9 all-time against schools with a recognized baptist affiliation (Baylor, Liberty, Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne).
