We're just over three weeks away from the start of the college football season, where SMU looks to improve on its 7-6 record from 2017.
Here are five bold predictions for the Mustangs in 2018:
1. Ben Hicks passes for over 3,000 yards and completes over 65 percent of passes. SMU's junior quarterback tallied over 3,500 yards last season and was only 70 passing yards away from reaching 3,000 as a redshirt freshman. So, we know the 3K mark is easily attainable. And while the loss of 1000-yard receivers Courtland Sutton and Trey Quinn may prevent Hicks from setting a new personal best, a system that frequently uses short passing routes should allow him to improve his accuracy.
