Pirates win again behind McCarthy’s 2-hit shutout

Sophomore pitcher Shane McCarthy led the Seton Hall baseball team to its first shutout win over the Manhattan Jaspers, 2-0, which increased the team’s winning streak to seven straight.

McCarthy’s talent continues to be on full display, as he allowed a mere two hits while notching a career-high 11 strikeouts. His masterful effort was further shown in surrendering zero walks, as well, in pacing the Hall to a win.

Seton Hall’s hitting efforts were led junior Mike Caputo and senior Zach Weigel, as both Pirates earned two hits and each scored a run of their own. Weigel earned a triple during the fourth inning, which was the 11th of his career, tying him for sixth all-time in Seton Hall history.
