Seton Hall painted a defensive masterpiece against the nation's best offense, but the Pirates couldn't muster the broad strokes on offense they needed to take advantage.
The Pirates held No. 4 Villanova well below its season scoring and shooting averages, only to deliver similar production themselves on the other end, giving the Wildcats the opening they needed to escape a raucous Prudential Center with a 69-68 overtime triumph over Seton Hall on Wednesday night.
Villanova guard Jalen Brunson hit a pair of free throws with 5.1 seconds left to put the Wildcats up three points. He was fouled after Seton Hall's Eron Gordon attempted to steal a Villanova inbounds pass and clipped Brunson.
