While its defense dominates, Texas A&M's offense remains work in progress

As Texas A&M’s defense improved, what's required of the Aggies’ offense changed.

No longer is it necessary for the offense to average 40 points per game to win, as was once the case. With a defense that is currently No. 2 in the SEC in points allowed per game (13.3) and yards allowed per play (4.39), the Aggies have undergone an identity shift.

But if they’re going to be serious contenders in the SEC West this season, the offense must improve. In the Aggies’ 29-16 win over Auburn this past Saturday, they only scored one touchdown in five red zone trips (the other touchdown came on an 89-yard Trayveon Williams run) and the team was an abysmal 2-for-15 on third-down attempts.
