COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- With Texas A&M facing fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line in overtime of a pivotal opening game, the Aggies put their fate -- and their faith -- in the hands of a quarterback who hadn’t started a game in more than 19 months before Saturday.
That’s the level of trust Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin and new offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone have in graduate transfer quarterback Trevor Knight.
Knight rewarded that trust with a 1-yard touchdown run that helped lift Texas A&M to a 31-24 victory over No. 16 UCLA on Saturday, and it capped off an up-and-down Aggies debut for the former Oklahoma Sooner.
