It's not every day that a college football game is played at a race track. So when Tennessee and Virginia Tech meet Week 2 at Bristol Motor Speedway, it’s only fitting that the winner take home a trophy that weighs nearly four times the size of the new national championship trophy.
That’s right. The trophy for “Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol,” unveiled Wednesday at a press conference, weighs 88 pounds. It’s 26 inches tall, 22 inches wide, and features a chrome football on a chrome pedestal surrounded by a miniature replica of the speedway at its base.
