Smart move: Florida should force Jalen Hurts to be a traditional QB

There are few obvious paths to victory for Florida in Saturday’s SEC championship game. Even the most loyal Gators fan would agree.

However, that does not mean there aren't ways for No. 15 Florida (8-3) to turn Saturday’s Georgia Dome rematch with top-ranked Alabama (12-0) into a close contest.

The obvious smart move would be for the Gators’ stout but injury-riddled defense to do something that even the best defenses have been able to accomplish only in spurts: Make Alabama’s Jalen Hurts function like a traditional quarterback.

When the dual-threat standout is at his best, his running ability (840 yards this season, plus 12 touchdowns) sets up much of what the Crimson Tide accomplishes through the air.
