While it’s good to have the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff rankings, it might have been better for the conference to have someone else in the mix down the homestretch.
But instead, the East became a mess of two- and three-loss teams and then last Saturday we watched as Auburn went on the road to Georgia and lost. It was a double-whammy: not only did a third loss knocked the Tigers out of playoff contention, it also clinched the West title for rival Alabama.
