OXFORD, Miss. -- Who’d you beat to get Nick Fitzgerald?
That was the question posed to Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen from one of the reporters in the postgame news conference following a 55-20 win in the Egg Bowl. It was a fair question given the game that Fitzgerald had just played. The sophomore quarterback ran for a school-record 258 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for 109 yards and three touchdowns.
Other schools must have been clamoring for him, right?
“UT Chattanooga,” Mullen responded.
