Looking ahead to who Alabama might face in the playoff

It’s no longer a question of who gets in from the SEC.

Call it cannibalization or call it what it is (a down year), but we’ve finally reached the point where the conference has separated the chaff from the wheat, and all that’s left to hold onto is No. 2-ranked Alabama.

Ole Miss dropped out of the picture a long time ago, as did LSU. And Florida, by virtue of Saturday’s loss to Florida State, fell six spots No. 18 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.

So with all the intrigue lost and a conference championship game on the horizon in which Alabama is a two-touchdown favorite, it feels like time to look ahead a bit.
