Less experienced LSU LBs must step up in Kendell Beckwith's absence

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Donnie Alexander is no Kendell Beckwith. Luckily for LSU, the Tigers don't need him to be -- not on Thursday against Texas A&M, anyway.

"There is a difference obviously between him and Kendell," LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron said of the two linebackers. "I think Donnie is going to be a really good football player, but the thing about A&M that's going to help us is they are a spread offense. You'd better run fast and make some plays in space and I think that's what Donnie does well."

Size and experience are the two most obvious differences between senior Butkus Award finalist Beckwith, who will miss the A&M game (7:30 p.
