Chances are, if you look at a coaching resume that says 36-16 in four seasons with a victory over Alabama and a Heisman Trophy winner, you'll instinctively think "good." A 27-13 record in three seasons with an SEC title and a national championship appearance will likely garner the same response.
But when you dive deeper into the numbers, you'll find it really might not be good enough for these once darlings to their respective schools and fan bases.
The first coach is Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin. The second is Auburn's Gus Malzahn. Both had wildly successful starts but now are a mediocre season away from possibly finding new work.
