Florida Football: Feleipe Franks gets the nod for the Gators

It has been a tumultuous week for the Florida football program with players being suspended left and right. But on Wednesday, Jim McElwain reportedly named redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks the starting quarterback for Saturday’s season opener against Michigan, according to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman.

Franks signed with the Gators in the 2016 class as the no. 5 pro style quarterback in the country, and the no. 57 player overall according to 247sports’ composite rankings. Franks becomes the fifth quarterback from the 2016 recruiting class that will be a starting quarterback in the SEC this season.
