AUBURN, Ala. -- The last time John Franklin III played a game in Mississippi, he threw for 119 yards, rushed for 172 yards and accounted for six touchdowns … all in the first half.
For those that have watched the Netflix documentary “Last Chance U,” you already know how that game ended. There was an ugly brawl just before halftime that forced the refs to call the game, and it ultimately cost Franklin’s team, East Mississippi Community College, a chance at the playoffs and repeating as national champions.
Almost a year later, Franklin is returning to the state where he resurrected his career and where he became nationally recognized -- for better or worse -- because of the documentary.
