KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — One of college football's oldest and fiercest rivalries is back where it belongs—on the Third Saturday in October, where Tennessee and Alabama will battle.
It's also back where it belongs in another way: The Volunteers are ranked ninth nationally and have made this game against the top-ranked Crimson Tide a marquee affair yet again.
The last time the Vols beat a No. 1 team was in 1985 when they upended Auburn and Bo Jackson 38-20. The last time they beat the Tide was 10 years ago, an 0-9 stretch. In other words, they're due.
