GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- There was no way Richard Ward was going to miss this game.
Yeah, it's just UMass, but he grew up with Steve Spurrier and the Fun 'n' Gun offense, so making a cross-country trip to be here in person to see Florida Field become Steve Spurrier Field on Saturday night was well worth the sacrifice. Ward and his wife, Stephanie, traveled from their home in Fresno, California to be a part of the season-opening festivities at the Swamp and the Head Ball Coach's big day.
Ward even has a tattoo on his calf of Spurrier being carried off the field by the Florida players and is proud to show it off.
