The SEC had a very lackluster opening weekend, but many of the conference's top teams got back on track with resounding wins this past weekend. Here's our SEC Power Rankings heading into Week 3, along with the latest news and rumors from around the conference:
14) Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky lost to Southern Miss, then got absolutely smacked against Florida on Saturday. The Wildcats still have a LONG way to go.
13) Missouri Tigers
Mizzou got into the win column on Saturday while showing signs of life on offense, putting up 61 points on Eastern Michigan. Their home game against Georgia this coming weekend will tell us a lot about how much this team has improved.
12) Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt beatdown Middle Tennessee, but that opening loss to South Carolina is still puzzling.
11) South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina came out flat for the second straight week, falling down 24-0 against Mississippi State before ultimately losing 27-14. The struggles of having a young offense are still painfully obviously.
10) Mississippi State Bulldogs
How do you rebound from losing to South Alabama? You soundly beat a SEC team in your conference opener.
9) Auburn Tigers
Auburn's offense showed signs of life in their 51-14 drubbing of Arkansas State, and if they can keep that going, they'll be a team no one wants to face. Now they just have to do it against a Power 5 opponent.
8) Florida Gators
Florida has simply taken care of business to this point in the season, soundly beating both UMass and Kentucky. Neither victory was anything that made you look at it twice.
7) Georgia Bulldogs
Which Georgia is for real...the team that handily beat UNC, or the team that beat Nicholls by two?
6) LSU Tigers
The Tigers seem to have found their quarterback in Danny Etling, and if he can continue to play at an above average level, LSU will suddenly be able to take advantage of all their talented weapons.
5) Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee has gotten off to a rocky start to the season, but are undefeated and found their stride against Virginia Tech. With Joshua Dobbs and the offense playing at their full potential, this team will be as dangerous as we thought it would be.
4) Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies followed their upset of UCLA with a 67-0 drubbing of Prairie View A&M. They look good.
3) Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas narrowly got past Louisiana Tech, but then picked up a HUGE overtime win on the road against a good TCU team. Bret Bielema has this team playing at a high level, and they look ready to challenge the top teams in the SEC West.
2) Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss has been hot and cold all season, but they've been absolutely dominant when at their best. A home game against Alabama will show if they can get back into the College Football Playoff conversation.
1) Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide are still rolling over people. They have everything, but now face a true road test - and Ole Miss is chomping at the bit to get after true freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts.
